The refining process starts at this stage and implies two phases:

HULLING, during which the chuff of grain formed by glume and glumella covering the seed is removed. The result of this process is a product called hulled rice or brown rice that preserves all the nourishing properties of rice.

WHITENING, in this phase a seed coat, situated under the chuff, called pericarp is removed by means of machineries called bleaching machines. Rice, passing through four bleaching machines undergoes different treatments until it becomes white as we know it.

Finally the optical and dimensional SELECTION begins, to obtain the highest uniformity of product; in fact by means of special machines where broken grains, together with those with defects, are separated and sent to the zootechnical market.
